Mission LEAD: Husky Succeed!

Huskies LEAD the way! EVERYDAY!

Hello Husky Families,

This year we were gifted the opportunity to be a Title I school again. The extra funding has helped us have two additional employees supporting our students (Math Instructional Coach and an Intervention/ESE Teacher), additional supplies for our classrooms, professional development for our teachers, and other programs for our students.

Right now, we barely qualify for next years Title I status based on our 64% Free/Reduced Lunch numbers.

It only takes 10 minutes to complete the application. Even if you do not purchase lunch, 10 minutes to possibly qualify for a free or reduced lunch also HELPS OUR SCHOOL QUALIFY FOR ADDITIONAL FUNDING!!!

In addition to qualifying for free and reduced-priced meals, completing the meal benefits application may qualify your family for discounted internet services, after-school programs, and additional resources for your school.

We appreciate you taking the time to fill out the 10 minute application -- your support is a HUGE HELP!!!

Fill out the Application HERE --- MEAL BENEFITS APPLICATIONS

Thank you for your continued support!

Warm regards,
Jodi Gonzalez and Robert Adamowicz

Teach In

Great American Teach-In on November 18th

Parents, community members, and friends of Highlands Elementary School, make plans now to be a part of Teach-In on Tuesday, November 18. We are looking for community leaders to teach at least one class in this community-wide effort. What does it mean to “Teach for a Day”? SCPS invites you to teach our students through life experiences and opening doors! Share about your job, travel and cultural experiences, or a hobby.

Teach-In is a perfect opportunity for parents, business leaders and community members to let students know we care about them. It is simple – join us on Tuesday, November 18 and teach a class or two – whatever your schedule permits.

Teach-In highlights the importance of bringing together teachers, school staff, parents, students, and communities in a unified effort to build great public schools. We will do our part by giving you some suggestions to prepare you for this experience with an informative Teach-In Speaker Guide. Simply register for Teach-In 2025 (LINK HERE). You will not regret your decision to be a volunteer teacher during Teach-In 2025. We cannot wait to hear from you!

Dress Code

Dress Code

Parents,
We need your help! We have noticed an increase in our students breaking SCPS Dress Code.

Please review the SCPS guidelines and help us by making sure your child's dress is appropriate for school. Highlands Elementary will provide alternative attire if necessary.

Excerpt from SCPS Appearance & Dress Code Section of the Student Code of Conduct:

Clothing Coverage: Clothing must fully cover areas from one armpit to the other armpit, down to the thigh. Lower garments must completely cover the buttocks at all times. All tops must have shoulder straps, be long enough to cover the waistline, and must not expose the midriff or undergarments at any time. (See the diagram above for reference).

To review the SCPS Appearance & Dress Code section of the SCPS Student Code of Conduct click HERE.

Students without this form completed will not be able to participate in upcoming events such as the book fair and Teach-In. This form only needs to be completed once a year and if you have already completed it, you do not need to complete it again.

If you have any questions, please reach out to Mr. Adamowicz at AdamowRE@myscps.us, 407-746-6702, or via ParentSquare.
